How not to be bored waiting for your trip to come!

Like me, are you super excited to go on your trip and it's in like 3 days? Are you surprised how fast all the other days zipped away? Are you out of things to pack and everything seems boring? Well I have the prefect soloition of how to stay entertained while waiting!  Go through your plans, look at the towns you are visiting and things to in and around it. Research the towns history and the native trees, birds, flowers and anything else you are interested in knowing.  Play any instrument. If you have any sort of instrument, whatever room it is in, make sure there's no clock in there. Then just play. Make up your own songs, try to play a real song. Even if you dont know how to play the instrument, try anyway. The reason for no clock is to help time go by faster.  Go on a walk. Bring a friend if you wish and if you can, don't bring anything to keep track of time. Walking, running, biking, or any other way of transportation is a good way to

Just a quick update!

What a beautiful and busy sunny morning! Just a few more days until the big trip! The weather on our way seems to be pretty warm and sunny! We are packing one car to ship today, cleaning out our trailer to sell it in a few days and packing the rest of the boxes 📦 We have already planned the air bnbs out, and are packing the truck up with necessities for on the road and in the new house. We will keep everyone posted! Here are some pictures of spring around the yard 🌻

Cleaning a car for transport

It's almost time for our trip! We are packing our bags and cleaning out our car to ship it cross country. When opened up the car and began to take all of the extra accessories like bobble heads, anything hanging from your rear view mirror, etc and put then in a box.  The car looked pretty disgusting at first. We haven't cleaned it out since our last beach trip, it had sand and shells in every nook and cranny possible! The dog who is photobombing the picture, leaves muddy prints on every seat😁Since my brother usually rides in the backseat, he made a mess of crumbs and Legos. As you can see, the car needed a cleaning anyway.😀 After we removed all the accessories, we took out the floor mats and cleaned them. Vacuumed the carpet and cupholders. Wiped down the seats and surfaces. Took out all the unnecessary things in the back and in the end the car looked " Snazzy" as my brother says. We didn't have the crevice attachment for the vacuum, so i

Great board games!

When you get to your stop, maybe at a hotel room or a air bnb, you might want to have something to entertain you and your family! I personally think board games are one of the most fun boredom busters! I went through our game box and picked out the funnest ones! ● The Oregon trail card game- This game is so much fun! You and your family and/or friends are trying to make your way to Oregon. You start in Independence MO and if you can, finish in Willamette Valley OR. There are three types of cards, Trail cards that you deal out a portion to each player so they can create the trail you are on. Supply cards, each player gets a few and depends on how many players, that is how much supplies you can take. The last card is the calamity card, this card will tell you the calamity you are in (Snake bites, thieves, starvation, sicknesses and much more.) When you first start you all write your names on the card and through the game, people will die and you can create their headstone. It

First aid kit

Every car should equipped with a first aid kit, you'll never know when you will need one. Its better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it. Here are a few things we pack in our kit! ● All shapes and sizes of bandaids- For paper cuts to scrapes and slices. ● Gauze and gauze tape- to wrap up those nasty cuts.  ● Eye wash- For that tiny piece of dirt that is bugging you 😄  ● Allergy pills and nasal strips- It's getting closer to spring and if your like me pollen can be a problem. I always carry around these to be prepared for my next allergy attack.  ● Butterfly closures- For securing an ouchie. ● Cough drops- To suck on for fun, or when you have an annoying cough.  ● Extra toothpaste- Not a necessary item, but just in case. ●  Cold compress- To soothe the bumps and bruises.  ● Tounge compressors- No one uses these anymore but if you have them, they can be uses as fire starters.  ● Cotton balls, Q-tips and cotton pads ● Rubber gloves- W

Road Trip Food part 2

Another post for road trip food! There's so many options to choose from so I picked another bunch of food to share!  ● Pink salmon packets- Yes, these may seem gross but they are surprisingly good, just like a can of tuna, but easier to carry around and eat.  ● Pistachios- A great snack food! ● Hot chocolate and Tea packets- When you start or finish your day, it's sometimes nice to have a hot drink to bring on the road or calm you down at night. There also super small so another space saver!  ● Can of Spam or other meat- Easy breakfast, lunch or dinner! ● Cashews- cashews are my most favorite nut, so I always have to pack them.  ● Jerky- Grab and go snack. Super easy to pack and a great source of protein!  Hope these inspire you and help you plan your next road trip!

Simple toiletrie kit!

When I was little I loved to go to a store and pick out little tiny toiletries (Thruthfully I still like to 😄) But now I realized that if you are limited space it is better to have little toiletries. Below I picked out some of my favorite ones! Mouthwash usually comes in a gigantic bottle which is why these travel bottles are perfect! If you can't find these you can fill up a tiny bottle or jar of your own. Sometimes toothbrushes won't fit in your bag, so these foldable ones work great! These tiny deodorants work great and save room! There isn't that much selection at a normal store, but what they have will work great. I honestly think this box filled with Q-tips has been the best investment yet! Q-tips are one of the things you don't think to pack and I have forgotten them multiple times, so once I found this, I keep refilling it over and over and now I never forget them! Hope these help!

Road Trip Food Part 1

Every trip we pack food for the road so we don't have to eat out to many times. Below I have picked out all of the food/snacks we have so far! ● Good Crisps- I love these chips! They are just like "Pringles" but much more healthy. ● Sunflower seeds or other seeds and nuts- for protein and a great snack! ● Rice cakes or crisps- Yet another great snack. ● Bone broth- We are going to add it to soups or meat to make a heartier stew. ● Dried apple rings- I only get dried fruit with one ingredient. ● Sundried tomato pesto- To make sandwiches more exciting. ● Caned tuna- This is always one item I must have! It's super simple to make and keeps you full for a while.  ● Canned soup- A simple meal. ● A can of olives- A snack most everyone will like! ● Coconut oil- For cooking. And finally, the best breakfast idea that we have ever came up with that you can make in a hotel room, trailer or an Air B&B, is waffles! Bring a box of pancake mix

We never travel without....

I interviewed each family member and asked then, "What are the five things you have to take on a road trip?" Here are there answers! First, Mom will tell you her top five. ● Infinity scarf- It can double as a pillow or an eye mask, but mainly it keeps your neck warm. ● Water bottle- Have to stay hydrated! Plus my kids forget their's. ● Camera- To document everything. ● Chapstick- It has to be the sweet watermelon flavor! ● First aid kit- Cause the kids always need some owie fixed. Now Dad will tell you his... ●Sunglasses-  ●Knife- Acts as a multi tool. ●Coffee- To stay wide awake on the road. ●Phone- Music and work calls. ●Comfy shoes- For wearing around hotel rooms. And my brother will tell you his! ● Snacks- To satisfy my craving until the next meal. ●Pillow- Comfort in the car. ●Blanket- Also comfort. ●Nintendo 2DS- Fun to play on during long drives. ●Stuffed animal- This is my pal Cheety the Cheeta. He's my travel buddy! And fin

Essential oils for traveling!

One little thing you can bring with you on your next trip can be essential oils! Below I have picked out 5 of the best oils for traveling. ● Lavender- Lavender is mostly used for calming purposes, but you can use it to calm irritated skin. At night time, before bed you can apply the oil  to the bottoms of your feet or your pillow. ●Lemon- Lemon is one of my favorite oils. It's has so many uses and is a great one for the car because of its uplifting and posotive scent. Firstly it can be added to olive oil to make a furniture polish. Next, it can remove greasy substances, gum and  sticky label pieces from fabric. Then you could add a drop or two to your water, diffuse it into the air, and even clean your counters! ●Peppermint- Peppermint is a strong oil, but very useful. Put one drop of peppermint and one drop of lemon into your water to make a mouthwash. Add to your shampoo for a potent shampoo. It also could help you get rid of your h

Audio books 📚

When I am on a road trip I love to listen to audio books! It is a great way to save space, because carrying around your books can sometimes be a bother. Especially when you have limited space. Personally I go to Spotify, they have a great selection of audio books and podcasts! Some cool things that a few audio books have... ●Some of them have sound effects or play music that matches the vibe of the book in the background 🎶 ● They have different people reading each character, so that the characters feel real🎤 ● If you tend to skip lines (like I sometimes do) the reader clearly pronounces each word so you won't miss anything📖 ● If you can't read in the car or if  your the driver 😄🚗 ● A great time passer!⏱️ I also would recommend listening to a bit of the book before to download it to make sure you like the reader and see if you could listen to it for hours. Hope these tips help you!

Road trip sick kit

The most necessary thing you might need on a road trip, is a sick kit. My mom put together this kit and we always keep it in the car just in case.  Here is some of the items and why we keep them in the kit. ●Plastic gallon bags- For... well you know. ●Tissues- You never know when you will have a runny nose ●Chapstick- Just to have  ●Herbal salve- Helps small cuts and scratches ●Small package of hand snaitizer- To clean your hands ●Cough drops- To help a cough or to just suck on ●Drink powder- To flavor your water. The one we have pictured above is for relaxing purposes. ●A roller bottle-  How it will make you feel depends on what you buy or make. ●Ginger chews- I personally find these help me not become nauseous but my brother is opposite, I would try them out before you go on a long road trip. We store it in a small plastic case right in the front seat for easy access. If you don't have one of these yet, I strongly encourage you to make one!

Packing necklaces

Do you love to wear necklaces but never can pack them without tangling them? Well I found the perfect way to pack them tangle free! All you need is straws!  For thiner necklaces all you need is a typical drinking straw. Then you thread the necklace through ( for longer necklaces use 2 straws) And for chunkier necklaces like pearls, use a Boba straw. And thats it! It's a really simple, yet useful  packing tip!

Packing cubes!

When I go on vacation, I like to have my clothes separated and organized. That's why I bought some packing cubes! These particular packing cubes have five items in the set. The largest one can hold all your jackets, pants and shirts. The middle sized one can hold all your shirts and shorts and the little one can hold all your socks, underwear and underclothes. The bag pictured above can hold your shoes. Not pictured  is your miniature laundry bag that comes with the set! It is a perfect size to hold all your dirty clothes for a week! I bought these packing cubes a few years ago and have used them for every trip I went on.They are very handy!

The simplest way to fold a t-shirt

A few years ago my neighbor taught me how to fold a t-shirt and ever since she did I couldn't stop! It was so easy and convenient, perfect for traveling! Follow the simple instructions to learn how! Step one: Place the shirt face down onto a clean surface. Step two: Fold the shirt upwards, in half. Step three: Fold  the shirt sleeves down. Step four: Fold the shirt in half, downwards Step five: Fold both sides twords the middle. Step six: Tuck the right side into the first pocket on the opposite side Tada! You did it! This t-shirt tip will definitely come on handy. I fold mine like this all the time so I can see all them without messing up my drawers and I fold them like this to put in my packing cubes for traveling! Hope you enjoyed!
