Guinea hens and Chickens

Some of our strangest pets are the Guinea hens. Why you ask? Well, take a look for yourself...😆
Yep! Guineas are a strange bird but they eat about 1,000 ticks a day! They are really good at protecting your flock and alerting danger (because they are so loud). They also have really pretty feathers and are super stupid. Some of the bad things about guineas is that they are mean. Don't try to hold them because they have very sharp claws. They also probably will run away into the woods and most likely never come back, unless they are raised with chickens! They are said to lay 90-130 small eggs a year, tasting like chicken eggs.
The chickens are good pets, not nearly as loud as the guineas and much better egg layers. We have 8 Rhode Island Reds, one mysterious rooster, one Sebright and 3 adorable little bantams!
We have only named a couple of each so far, here are their names!
The rooster is named Chicken Licken 😄
One little bantam is Kesteral
The Sebright is Quail
And the guineas are... Luigi, Clem (guess which popular video game Clem is found in)!
Hope you enjoyed!

Today we get pigs

After lunch today, we're driving a few hours to pick up the pigs. We're getting two Berkshire crosses today and one Kune-Kune on Sunday from a different place.  Dad has built the training pen behind the stove, you can see on the right there's the water and the far left is their house.  And, of course, Scotty named the two pigs,  Bop and Bonk 😂 Can anyone guess what those names are from?

Around the farm

Not to much has happened this month, we have mainly just been getting ready for the winter ahead.  There was a pig running around our backyard a few days ago. We don't know how it got there or who's it was, it was just running around. We tried to get it into the pig pens, but it ran away. It was so cute and tiny! The ducks and chicken are all good, all the chicken are now laying. We get around 6-7 eggs every day! Scotty grew a full beard and wanted to show everyone.  It's almost Thanksgiving! Dose anyone have any plans?  Thanks for reading!

Ice ❄

The ice on the pool was about 1 ½ inches thick. (Of course I tried to stand on it 😏, it did break after a few seconds though) I don't know if you can see it, but it's really  thick.  And the shore of the pond was frozen too!  This is the sunset from the back deck around dinner time.  And here's a bonus picture of the ducks sleeping after they went swimming in the afternoon!
