Walking around the property

We have been walking around our property and discovering a whole bunch of beautiful places!  Here's our creek. Scotty tried to pan for gold but did not get any😁 The creek is really shallow and cold. But the sand is really pretty, it's like tiny clear rocks! We have been enjoying the weather here, it is usually in the 70s to 80s and a bit humid here in NC. What temp is it where you guys live?

Meet Red

This is Red. Red was given to us by our grandparents a few years ago. It has a long and amazing back story.  It all started a few years ago, when a fire was in my grandparents town. They drove Red into an empty spot in there other lot next door, hoping the fire wouldn't hurt it. Packed their things and went to stay with us. A few weeks later, after it was safe to go back, we found out their house had been completely destroyed, which was really sad. A little while later they discovered that Red, in the next lot was ok! Except for a few burn marks, it was still in great condition. So eventually dad and grandpa went back with a trailer to get Red and bring it to grandma Gs house. We used it until we moved across country and hauled it on our trailer all the way! It is super useful and has the most amazing story ever!

Meet Orange

We invested in a Kubota tractor to help us our on the property! We also bought a bunch of different attachments including a wood chipper, lawnmower, road grater and all over our property we are uncovering more attachments! So far we have found a disk plow, brush hog and some sort of trailer basket. We have used basically all of them so far😀 The funnest thing in the world is when we ride in the bucket!! Tonight, we loaded up the cart with brush we cleared to clear the pathways and it worked out amazing!  So far this has been the most useful tool!

Getting the tractor started!

Dad got the tractor started! The tractor was already on our property, when we bought it, under the roof of the tobacco barn. It is a crazy old and vintage Ford tractor. Dad filled it up with diesel and spent at least an hour trying to start it because the glow plugs are shot and it doesn't like when it's cold. It is very confusing for me since I don't know how to drive a manual transmission and the tractor has not been started in a long time. He fiddled around with it for a few more hours and "Vroom!" It started! It only took him a little bit of time to figure out the controls since he's a mechanical thinker and got the attachments hooked up and off he goes! Good job Dad!

Random projects!

I don't have any pictures to post right now, so I'll just tell you about some random projects we are doing!  Me and Scotty are thinking of names to name our chickens. He's thinking about some like "Chickn Licken Jr", " Drumstick" and " Wobbles". I really don't know what to name mine, but I'm thinking!  Our house is beautiful but it needs a bit of updating. We are replacing the toilets, sink spigot and spouts, painting the cabinets and replacing the handles, fixing lights and a ton more. It's all really fun work! I personally are getting used to windows with no screens. A lot of the bugs that fly inside don't bug me at all, I just shoo them into my brother's room 🤣 But it really isn't pleasant when your brother shoos the hugest moth in the world into your room and it starts to fly in your face as your trying to go to bed. But we got that situated and the moths went back outside.  Dad has been working hard in his barn and

Projects we plan to do!

The pollen is finally starting to clear up and the weather has been just about in the 80s all week! It's almost summer! (Hopefully) 😁 Now that the weather is becoming warmer we have been working on a lot of projects, not just fixing it up after we move in project, but projects to start a farm! We are planning to clean out this hen house ( Isn't it adorable? 🤩) And get some chickens!  We are going to get ducks eventually and they will live in a duck house by our pond. And after a while we will raise pigs and they will be living in the woods.  Now that the chances of frost is getting lower. We are beginning to plant plants. I am planting miniature pumpkins, lufa and sunflowers. My brother is planting pumpkins that can grow thousands of pounds ( if he remembers to water them) And mom is growing everything!   We are becoming busy as season's change but it is really fun! We miss you all!💗

Yardwork!

When you have 12 acres, it's a lot to maintain. But if you have lots of people working together it will go really fast! Above my brother is figuring out where to dig a hole which he thinks is work. He is so happy mom and dad are letting him dig on the property. Since we found out our soil is mostly sand, he thinks he's going to find something amazing! Anyway back to the subject.  The first thing we did was mow around the pond. There were lots of bad weeds around the edges. It worked out great!  Then we began to work on mom's future garden. It was so full of weeds that we had to use the mower again. We also had no compost out there so we had to use our little side by side to carry the clippings to the compost dad built yesterday. It worked out great!  After we finished that job, it was time to mow our lawn! While we did that mom reaplanted plants and made the plants in the front look pretty again!  When we finished the lawn, Lucy was so happy to have

Visiting a working farm

Yesterday we visited a local farm to do a herbal walk and pet the farm animals! We learned all sorts of local plants, what parts to eat on them and not. We also got to see horses, goats, meat bunnies, chickens, ducks and geese!  This goat is going to have a baby soon!  These Muscovoy ducks are kinda ugly but they were still adorable!  This horse was super nice. Did you know horses love to be scratched on there bellybutton? When you do they move there mouth around like there laughing!  These baby ducklings have been adopted by a goose. The goose hisses at you when you get to close to them.  I loved visiting them farm and learning so many  new things!

Projects around the house!

We have lived in NC for a little bit over a week! During that week we have discovered new stores and restaurants we are wanting to check out, met a bunch of really nice people, explored our property and are doing repairs and unpacking boxes at our house. We have done a lot of work over the week and have many projects planned for next week! Here are a few work in progresses.  I am adding a miniature library to my closet. I only emptied 2 boxes full of books and I am going to need to purchase another huge bookcase to go on the left side. Maybe once I get everything a situated I might hang up some fabric on the walls for a dramatic effect!  Mom has unpacked the whole kitchen and is beginning the school room, Dad has been busy unpacking his tools, my brother is busy re-builidng his Lego sets and I am just unpacking all my stuff. I think my room is starting to look like a room! And lastly, the sorta unnecessary but well used TV has been unpacked. Thank yo

The weather.

Wow! Yesterday we our first storm in NC! In the morning clouds were starting to roll in  and the sky was getting really dark, you could see in the horizon how dark they were getting. Then right before lunch, it started to dump rain and thunder! This never happens in CA! But within the hour it cleared up and blew away and became humid. Then as we were picking up a pizza, a little bit of rain began to hit the windshield. It thundered all through dinner! Yet again it cleared up.  After me and my brother went to bed and mom and dad were asleep. Lightning flashed and thunder boomed! It was only a tiny bit terrifying😁 In the end my brother slept in my room and when we woke up, the storm was gone.  I'm definitely not used to this weather yet, but definitely can get used it it!

Fishing!

Me and my Brother spent the morning and evening of yesterday fishing! It is so peaceful and beautiful out there! We only have one pole and one piece of bait so we took turns. 3 casts from him 3 from me. I caught one pretty big bass. My brother caught a decent sized bluegill!  Unfortunately, one wild cast from me untied the bait and it fell into the water. No more fishing till we buy some more bait 😁

The boxes have come!

Yesterday we were busy from 8 am to 8 pm! The moving truck was here with our boxes! Unfortunately they could not drive down our road so they had to park at a nearby gas station and shuttle everything to our house.  There were jobs for everyone! People to organize boxes, move boxes inside, drive the boxes from the truck to the house and a bunch more! But in the end we got everything situated and moved without damaging hardly anything!  With the help of some great friends. We put together a few beds, organized the stuff and began to set up! My room is already starting to look like a room! So is mybrother's! After working for 10 hours me and my brother decided to go fishing. It was so peaceful and fun! I actully caught one!  It was a fun and busy day, I can't wait to start unpacking and making the house a home!

How to mow a huge lawn!

Last evening, my brother began to mow the lawn.... with a lawnmower  We only have an acre or so of grass and mowing it with a lawnmower can be very time consuming, but my brother proved that it could be done in only about 45 minutes! His tips are... # Always use the mower at full gas. # Never let your mower run dry. # Always mow in straight lines, unless going around a tree. # Become motivated so you won't get tired as fast!  And look how good it looks!

Things in NC that are different from CA

We were driving around a ton yesterday to check out our town! I noticed a bunch of different things that I have never seen before! #1- All the lights are hung like the picture above- and when the wind blows they sway back and forth.  #2- Carl's Junior is called Hardee's here. It looks the same though! #3- There are trees and water everywhere! Everything is green and beautiful! #4- A popular fast food place here is called Bojangles. And basically everywhere serves fried chicken!  Hope you enjoyed!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everybody!  Today we explored our property and our new town. We found the library and a few restaurants we are interested in trying!!  Today was beautiful and sunny! We spent it hanging out with some great friends.  How did you spend your Easter?

Day #5! Home!

Left the farm in TN very early. We were all so excited to get to our house! The drive was beautiful! We drove right through the Smokey Mountains!  After the 6-7 hour drive we pulled up to our house!!! Here it is! Our friends who sold us our house  met us there and showed us around ! There's a porch swing! The stairs are really pretty! And there was a chandelier! The pond and property were also amazing! There is a long dock, 12 acres with hundreds of trees, a very deep pond and lots of other plants and animals! So far I love this house so much! As soon as I walked through the door it felt just like home!💗

Where we stayed Friday night!

We got lucky and had the opportunity to stay at a working farm!  They had pigs, chickens, ducks, horses and from every window in the house you could see the mountains!  The house was clean, comfortable and cozy! There was plenty of space for everyone and it was decorated in farmhouse style which makes it even more cute!  This duck hung out in front of our house the whole time. I would give this farm a great review. It was so quiet, pretty, peaceful and fun!

Day #4!

Today was busy and fun! We left Arkansas and made it all the way to Tennesse! Crossing the boarder between AR and TN was amazing, we went over a huge bridge and over the Mississippi River!  We also went through Memphis and Nashville!  Memphis Tennessee  Nashville Tennessee  The highlight of my brothers trip was...... BUC-EES!!! Buc-ees was so fun! They basically put the Buc-ee face on every possible item!  It was super fun! If you ever have the opportunity to go, I would highly recommend going! Tomorrow is the last day of the road trip. It is going to be sad to not travel anymore. But it will be fun to go home!
